This event is hosted by Let’s Go Birding Together!
Trip Leaders: Kristy Morley & Barb Williams
Let’s Go Birding Together intentionally welcomes the LGBTQ+ community to come learn about birds and birding. Everyone deserves to spend time in nature without fear for their safety or wondering if they will be welcomed into a group. Started in 2016 by the National Audubon Society, Let’s Go Birding Together birding walks allow everyone to experience the joys of nature in a safe, affirming, and inclusive space.
Wissahickon Trails is pleased to offer this bird walk at Four Mills Nature Reserve in partnership with Liberty Bird Alliance. The walk will be led by Kristy Morley, Senior Naturalist at Wissahickon Trails, and her wife Barb Williams.
All experience levels are welcome, from those who are brand-new to birding and want to learn more to those who have been birding for years.
All ages are also welcome, from elders to youth.
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or parental figure.
Things to know:
- The walk will take place at Four Mills Nature Reserve on natural trails and cover approximately 1 mile in distance.
- There are two large bridges with 10-14 steps up and then down, along with wood boardwalks and small wooden bridges.
- There will be restrooms available at the beginning and end of the walk.
- Some of the trails may be muddy, so choose footwear appropriately.
- Tick protection is recommended (tuck pants into socks and use a DEET or Picaridin-containing spray).
- Bring water and binoculars (loaner binoculars are available).
We are happy to offer this program at no cost to participants, but if you are able, a $10 suggested donation would be greatly appreciated. A Note About Our Field Trips:
We encourage participants to regularly check both the Liberty Bird Alliance website and Facebook page in advance of a field trip as the meeting location can change due to road construction, a park closure, weather conditions, or other last-minute circumstances. If you have any questions about a field trip, please contact: libertybirdalliance@gmail.com. Plan to arrive a few minutes before the scheduled time of the field trip. The time stated is the STARTING time, not the arrival time. This will give you time to get yourself ready, say hello, visit a restroom, and be ready to go. For all-day trips, please come prepared with lunch and have a full tank of gas.
PARTICIPANT RELEASE: Audubon field trips or events signify that I agree to not hold the Liberty Bird Alliance or any of its agents responsible for any accidents, losses, damages, or injuries resulting from my participation in the field trip or event.
